Our political actions are where "the rubber meets the road" when it comes to representing your business interests with government.  We react thoughtfully to issues that arise in government that may affect your business or your employees' quality of life.  The Salem Chamber is also proactive in developing leaders in our community through programs like Leadership Salem. 

Our lobbying activities are ongoing in areas like downtown development and parking, utilities, taxes, school funding, sewer and water issues, health care costs and much more.  By being a strong voice for business, we help our members avoid becoming directly involved in controversy.  Some businesses may not want to speak out on a controversial issue.  We represent our members by being your voice and shielding your business from controversy. 

Our strong role in advocacy allows you to work on your business, while the Salem Chamber works on behalf of your business.  Many business people--especially those in small businesses--do not have the time to keep up on the issues, much less speak out for them.  We are your eyes and ears--and your voice.
