Welcome to Salem Oregon!

vineyardSalem has twice been selected an All-American City by the Citizen's Forum of Self-Government/National Municipal League.  There are as many reasons to visit Salem as there are reasons to live here!

Tucked between the Cascade Mountain Range and the Oregon Coast in the beautiful Willamette Valley, Salem makes a great get-away destination--for business or pleasure.

The Willamette River, one of the few that flows from south to north, winds through the Salem area forming the boundary between Marion and Polk counties. With mountains and the coast to the west, mountains and lakes to the east, an abundance of rivers surrounding it and the state's largest city to the north, Salem offers something for everyone.

Browse the categories below to find even more reasons to visit the heart of the Willamette Valley.  And while you're here, come by the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and say hello.

Salem offers two major shopping centers: Lancaster Mall, conveniently located off Interstate 5 on one of Salem’s major commercial streets, Lancaster Drive; and Salem Center in downtown Salem. Both offer everything from large department stores like Nordstrom, Meier & Frank, The Bon, and Emporium to outlets like American Eagle, The Gap and Old Navy. Both also feature quaint, locally-owned and operated specialty stores and gift boutiques.

The Reed Opera House, also in downtown Salem, opened in 1869 with the community's first theatrical production of "The Female Gambler." Now an elegant specialty shop mall with a third floor ballroom, the Reed Opera House has retained its historic appearance and atmosphere while it serves as a unique commercial space in the heart of the city. The Reed is host to offices and numerous one-of-kind shops featuring everything from lighting and home decor to fine clothing and items hand-crafted locally. Dining choices at the Reed range from classic Greek to soups and sandwiches

Whether you're planning a large regional conference, a staff retreat or a wedding, Salem has a variety of facilities and services to accommodate your needs.
