Top 10 things the Salem Chamber did for your business in 2011

10. Digital directory - For the first time, the annual Business Guide and Directory was made available online in a page-by-page format.

9. Member news feed on SalemChamber.org -  The Salem Chamber helped members promote their news and events by linking Face2Face on the home page on SalemChamber.org. Now, when members post on Face2Face, items go to the Chamber’s Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter feeds, as well as the third highest ranked website in the mid-valley.

 

8. Heart Business video campaign - In an effort to highlight member businesses, the Chamber began the Heart Business campaign. The videos capture independently owned member businesses who know what it is to love what they do. Videos can be found on SalemChamber.org and YouTube.

7. Creation of the Create Jobs PAC - The Create Jobs PAC was founded by the Salem Chamber in an effort to strengthen its ability to stand for business in the political arena.

6. Ready to Learn Ready to Work progam impact - Ready to Learn Ready to Work continues to have a tremendous impact on today’s students. In the 2010-11 school year, over 47,000 students were impacted by mock interviews, classroom speakers and mentors.

5. Face2Face hits 800 - The Chamber’s online connection portal, Face2Face continues to grow. There are now over 800 unique business profiles on Face2Face. This portal allows members to share news, events, photos and videos online.

4. Launching Business Voice - After close to 10 years, the Chamber’s monthly newsletter got a major facelift. Business News has become Business Voice, a bi-monthly publication. The continued goal of the newsletter is to keep members informed on what the Salem Chamber is doing on their behalf while also helping members promote their news.

3. Try It Local - The Chamber released its own deal program called Try It Local. Similar to Groupon, the program offers steep deals while keeping more money in our community. Eighty percent of the money generated stays in the local community.

2. Legislative Report Card - For the first time, the Create Jobs PAC released a legislative report card, grading legislators on their voting record on bills affecting business. The purpose is to hold legislators accountable for the decisions they made and the effect they have on the quality of life in our community.

1. Salem Chamber Mobile App - The soon-to-be-released app will allow the community to access the membership directory, deals, calendar and news from the convenience of their smartphones.
